The city of York is full of history, over 1000 years of it, in fact! York is famous for once being the Viking capital of Jorvik after they invaded the North in 866, and there’s plenty of places around the city where you can learn about and experience the Viking lifestyle. One such experience is the JORVIK Viking Centre, where you can examine their exhibition of the 1970s Coppergate Dig, where artefacts were recovered that date back over 1000 years. After that you can explore the 10th century York in their ride experience that takes you back in time to see how the Vikings lived with the help of 22 animatronic characters.
Aside from the Viking attractions, there are plenty of other activities within the city to keep you entertained. Why not book a city cruise along the River Ouse? Or if trains are more your thing, check out the National Rail Museum. The city is also very EV friendly, with various charging points across multiple car parks, including the Castle Car Park, which has a Type 2 7kW charger and a 3 pin 3kW charger, as well as the Nunnery Lane Car Park, which has two Type 2 7kW chargers.
